The DCSR 3G provides a targeted method of reducing the power consumption to AS 4755 compliant appliances. This gives electricity network operators the ability to reduce overall power consumption at critical times during peak load.
As a Demand Response Enabling Device (DRED), this unit receives Short Messaging Service (SMS) signals on the existing 3G cellular telecommunications network from the remote agent to directly activate the appropriate DRM modes to appliances such as air conditioners. The unit can also send back SMS messages to acknowledge commands and diagnostic information.
A fourth DRM mode (DRM4) is also available for the other appliances such as hot water systems and swimming pool pumps.
